- Friday, February 21, 2020 - 6:30-8:00 PM:
Shimmies and Accents for Drum Solos
Description: It can be difficult to add variety in movement, and to showcase the difference in drum beats with belly dance. Learn how to shape your shimmies and accents to enhance the variety of sounds in a drum solo. Victoria will provide drills and combinations to enhance your practices and develop your technique for drum solos.
- Saturday, February 22, 2020:
The Teel Fan Method - 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description: Victoria will introduce a new method and variation on the ancient Asian-influenced prop, flutter fan, in this workshop. Inspired by the breathless elegance of Chinese silk, the Teel Fan method presents techniques & combinations used to create beautiful fan dancing. No prior experience with fan veil is required or necessary.
Needed for Class: Right Handed Short Flutter Fan or Standard Fan Veil (some fans will be available to borrow, but please bring your own if you have one)
Teel Fan Method Choreography - 12:00-2:00 PM
***Please note that this class is only offered as part of a package and cannot be purchased A La Carte***
Description: Apply Victoria Teel’s fan method into a choreography. It is recommended that you have prior experience with fan veil or the Teel Fan method for this workshop.

Adding Belly Dance into Traveling, Turns, and Arm Paths
Description: Fluid traveling steps, turns, and arm movements can enhance any performance. Learn through drills and combos how to balance the juicy motif of belly dance with these lyrical movements to maintain your dance identity as a belly dancer with beautiful lines.

Payment and Refund Policy:
Payments can be sent via PayPal to sammieinhawaii@gmail.com (as a gift to friends/family - not for goods and services, please as PayPal will take out fees), via Venmo to Samantha Giridhar, or via cash/check. Please note that I will be able to issue refunds through New Year’s Day (January 1, 2020), so if your plans change, please let me know ahead of that date. After January 1, I will no longer be issuing refunds.
Hafla Performers:
Please note that dancers will be given priority for performance slots based on travel (out-of-towners) and workshop registration (for troupes, at least one member should be registered for workshops). A performer application will be posted once Early Bird registration ends. Performers should plan to limit their pieces to no longer than 5 minutes. We look forward to shimmying with you!
About Victoria Teel:
Victoria Teel is an award winning belly dance performer and instructor. Quickly growing a passion for the dance and culture, she soon worked with internationally acclaimed artists, directors, and producers. In 2010, Victoria was chosen along with 24 other dancers to participate in the worlds first ever belly dance reality show, Project Belly Dance. She placed among the top six contestants, earning her spot in the Final 6 instructional DVD released in March 2011.
Soon after Project Belly Dance, Victoria joined Miles Copeland's Bellydance Superstars in Japan for the tour of Bombay Bellywood. She then was chosen along with four other Bellydance Superstars to participate in their newest tour, Club Bellydance. She is currently a member of the Bellydance Superstars and toured full time for three years.
Victoria is internationally recognized for her unique fluid dance style and effortless execution. Her instruction method focuses on flow and how to create a seamless piece of choreography for any style. She is also the creator of the Teel Fan Method, a dance technique using fans and fan veils incorporating influences from Asian dances.
Beginning in 2006, Victoria Teel has studied multiple dance styles including Egyptian, Turkish, American Cabaret, Egyptian Folklore, and Spanish fusion belly dance.
Today, Victoria is based in the USA and offers online classes. She currently tours the world teaching workshops and performing.
