november 1 haflaOn November 1 MEDAH gathered to observe Culture Day, a national holiday in Japan that promotes culture, the arts and academic endeavor. The evening featured a diverse sampling of dance, singing and music, and was re-dedicated as a celebration of the life of Jackie Ward. Jackie was a gracious matriarch and unwavering supporter of the arts. The evening’s proceeds were donated in Jackie’s memory.

JULY 19, 2014: MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S GLEAM by MIKE BAMBI

GLEAM2014This summer MEDAH’s dancers and musicians returned to the Foster Botanical Gardens for the annual Midsummer Night’s Gleam! The magic continued at the Golden Horde encampment, where the audience joined in impromptu belly dance lessons. Mahalo to Secretary Renee Arnold for organizing the event, Member At Large Kornélia Szauter for arrangements with the Golden Horde, and to Mike Bambi for the stunning photos.
