Feb 26: Nubian Dance Workshop with Amala Gameela

Sunday, February 26 at 4 PM – 6:30 PM
Aloha Dancesport Center
350 Ward Ave, Ste 200, Honolulu, Hawaii 96814

Learn the joyful folk dance of Nubia, where Egypt’s own performance groups thrive, with one of the very few dancers in Hawaii who has perfected this beautiful dance and preserved it’s authenticity. Amala’s background of various belly dance styles surpass basic steps and reach deep into the culture, history and eclectic music. She is eager to share fun combos emulating movements of her favorite animals in one of her original choreographies while sharing Nubian instrumentation, rhythm and costuming.
Some dance experience recommended and all dance styles are welcome!
Hand-outs and music are provided.
Please bring a veil and a headband, scarf or hair pins to somehow attach the veil to your head so that we can use them as tarhas to dance with!

Workshop is from 4:00 -6:30pm
Cost is $35.00 ($30.00 for MEDAH members) in advance and $40.00 at the door.
